Before I tell you about my experience, I would like share with you a little of story. In 1915, 51 years after its foundation rise the first exceptional wines of the winery, the Vega Sicilia and the Valbuena. Following the Rioja Standards, this wines already leaves with a good time in oaks and bottled as they were sold. At first it was sold only among the bourgeoisie of the time, given as a gift to closer friends of the winery, ie, since then began the history about an unique and exclusive wine. Made in its majority with Tempranillo, it uses other grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Finally I could taste the Reserva Especial “Único” Vega Sicilia. The wine I bought in my last trip to Spain and I was very excited to open it. This wine is a result of 3 vintages and bottled in little quantity, this is a dream that could be changed in a nightmare.

Well, it’s time to taste it. What can I say about this wine? Sincerely I’m speechless, but I will try to make an analogy.
Imagine a symphony orchestra, that plays in perfect harmony above the guidance of maestro. Each instrument sounds to perfection, no more nor less. The Vega Sicilia is, well, perfect! Nothing is more or less, all the smells and flavors just in the right proportion. It is an emotion to taste it, it’s very especial. I tasted it during hours, and in each sip I had the sensation of tasting something unique.
I don’t want to stop tasting it, but in the end the cup is gone and I’m nostalgic, maybe one day I will find it again.

Do I need to say something about tasting notes?
I would, but I leave that to those who have tasted it and didn’t fall in love, but my case was love at first cup!
